Welcoming a new baby is one of life’s most meaningful milestones—fleeting, emotional, and impossible to fully put into words. At Jessica Veara Photography, every newborn session is designed to honor this season with care, intention, and artistry, preserving not only how your baby looks, but how this moment feels for your family.
From the moment you arrive at my Downtown Mystic studio, you’ll be taken care of. The space is thoughtfully prepared with everything your family may need—soft wraps, heirloom-quality props, and a curated wardrobe for baby, along with toys and snacks to keep older siblings comfortable and happy. Together, we’ll create a session that reflects your style, with carefully selected colors, textures, and details that result in timeless, cohesive portraits.
While your new baby is the heart and sole of the petite session, the full session takes the experience a bit further—it’s about connection. The way your baby fits perfectly in your arms, the quiet pride, the overwhelming love. Including parents and siblings in the full sessions allows us to preserve the beginning of your family’s next chapter in a way that will only grow more meaningful with time. Each newborn experience is tailored to you, ensuring your images feel personal, elevated, and truly one of a kind.
Newborn sessions are reserved based on your due date, with flexibility built in to accommodate your baby’s arrival—whenever they decide the time is right. By limiting the number of sessions I accept each month, I’m able to provide a seamless, relaxed experience and ensure availability during those precious first weeks. I would be honored to document this extraordinary moment for your family.

The Process
Reserve Your Session
To reserve your due date on my calendar, a contract and $375 session fee must be submitted. *The session fee is a non-refundable deposit that goes toward whichever package you select. Any remaining balance is due 48 hours prior to your scheduled session and can be upgraded at the viewing and ordering appointment (see below).

Once you are on the calendar, we will start getting into the fun stuff- planning your session! You’ll receive a questionnaire to discuss your preferences and any ideas, likes, and dislikes you might have. Based on your input, I’ll pull props and outfits from my collection to bring your vision to life. My studio is fully stocked with every color you can imagine so nothing is off limits!
We’ll also look into options for any artwork that you wish to create for your family or home. I’ll ask you to really think about how you want to enjoy those images in the future. I offer many different types of art including canvas, framed prints, wood mounted prints, boxed matted print sets, and traditional albums. You can view some of the beautiful products offered here to get a better idea.

Within the first two weeks after your baby’s birth, you’ll come see me at my cozy studio space in Downtown Mystic, CT. The studio is stocked with coffee, snacks, and toys for older siblings so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy a little break (and maybe even a nap!) while I work with your baby. All you have to bring is your sweet baby, diaper bag, and food for the little one.

1-2 weeks after your session, you’ll be invited back to the studio to view your gallery, select which images you want, and purchase any additional images or artwork. All images in your gallery will be fully edited and ready to be delivered that same day. We’ll use some amazing software to custom design your wall art, ensuring you’ll love your printed pieces! All additional purchases will be done at this time, so I ask that all decisions makers attend this meeting. Most clients spend anywhere from $700 to $2500 at a newborn session.
FAQs
How far ahead of time should I book my newborn session?
Trick question- it’s never too soon to reserve your session with Jessica Veara Photography! I do fill up ahead of time though, so the earlier the better.
What if my baby is already born?
Please reach out ASAP! The ideal time for a newborn session is within the first two weeks as they are still so fresh and sleepy. While I’ll never turn a baby away due to age, I will do my best to set the expectation that all poses may not be possible. We will still get some beautiful images that you’ll love, so it’s definitely still worth doing!
Can I bring in items from home to use during the session?
Yes! I love incorporating sentimental items, I just ask that you send me a photo ahead of time so I can plan out how to work them into the session flow. Please do try to limit the number of items you bring to one or two of the most important ones to ensure enough time for a well-rounded gallery.
